On June 29, 2013, the city of McDonough held a ceremony to dedicate a historical train marker in memory of the 39 victims who lost their lives on the night of June 23, 1900 in the infamous Camp Creek Train Wreck, called Henry County's "Titanic"; the greatest train fatality in the history of the state of Georgia. This marker is put in memory of those who lost their lives on that night and in honor of them and those who helped the survivors.
